**Inclusion and Autism: Ensenada Hosts Key Meeting**
A significant meeting focused on autism inclusion was held in Ensenada, bringing together local authorities, civil society organizations, autism specialists, and families of individuals with autism. This initiative, organized by the Health Commission of Ensenada’s council, aimed to foster dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders to advance reforms and local regulations for better integration of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within the community.
Adrián García, the council president leading the commission, underscored the importance of creating public policies that ensure access to appropriate health services, inclusive education, and increased social awareness. He emphasized that joint efforts are crucial to enhance the quality of life for those affected by autism.
García announced ongoing projects, including psychological support initiatives and the development of an “Inclusive Envelope” to help identify individuals with disabilities. He is also working with Mayor Claudia Agatón to establish a Municipal Center for Autism Spectrum Attention in Ensenada.
During this initial meeting, parents and relatives of those with autism had the opportunity to share their experiences, concerns, and challenges. These insights will inform future actions aimed at improving specialized medical services, psychological support programs, and autism awareness campaigns.
Council member Gandolfo García suggested coordinating future efforts to ensure effective follow-up and prevent isolated actions that do not reach those in need. The Health Commission intends to continue actively working on the recommendations and requests gathered.
