Elefante, the celebrated Mexican band led by Rafael “Rafa” López Arellano, Flavio “Ahis” López Arellano, Iván “Iguana” Antonio Suárez López, Luis “Gordito Tracks” Alberto Pórtela Solórzano, and Javier “Javi” Ortega Cantero, has managed to remain relevant in the ever-evolving landscape of the music industry. Since Javi became the vocalist in 2007, replacing the previous singer twice, Elefante has adapted to a new era while retaining the essence of their music. “It’s a different time now. Albums aren’t released in the same way; everything is uploaded to platforms. New fans have discovered us, which is incredible since we started in 2001 with ‘Así es la Vida.’ Those listeners didn’t even exist back then. We’ve bridged a generational gap, growing from one million to six million listeners. These new fans request our old songs but with a contemporary sound,” the band shared.
As they recognize this moment as Elefante’s best, Rafa highlighted that they are working on new material, set to debut by the end of the year. “We’ve been actively working on releasing individual tracks on platforms instead of traditional albums, aiming for broader exposure,” he added.
