### Long Queues for Senior Citizens Seeking Aid at IMOS
Tijuana – Long queues have been reported at the IMOS facilities, where individuals are attempting to register for the Welfare Support Program for Senior Citizens aged 60 to 64. Some citizens have resorted to camping out from the night before, bringing umbrellas, chairs, and being accompanied by family members to manage the lengthy wait.
Several users mentioned that they had to arrive at the state facilities as early as 6:00 AM, yet after five hours, they still hadn’t been attended to by any officials from the Secretaría del Bienestar. “They should organize it by tickets, numbers, or surnames so that people don’t have to stand in the sun for so long. There are people who can’t wait that long,” said Angelina García.
Due to the extended waiting times, some citizens have decided to bring umbrellas, chairs, and their loved ones to wait in line more comfortably. “I arrived late, at 6:00 AM, accompanying my husband because people come here as early as 10:00 PM and sleep overnight to wait for the program,” commented Lupita Urías.
It is important to note that senior citizens in Baja California have until August 23rd to register and receive bimonthly payments of 2,600 pesos under the Welfare Support Program for Senior Citizens. Registration began this Monday and is currently only being conducted at the IMOS facilities.

In recent days, there have been growing concerns over the capacity of the IMOS facilities to handle the influx of senior citizens seeking welfare aid. Reports indicate that elderly individuals have been enduring extreme wait times and inadequate shelter while waiting to register.
To address these issues, authorities are reportedly considering alternative measures such as expanding registration centers and implementing a more systematic approach to reduce wait times. Plans to distribute numbered tickets or schedule registration times based on surnames are being discussed to ease the process.
Additionally, the Welfare Secretariat has announced an extension for the registration period to ensure that all eligible seniors can apply without facing undue hardship. This move comes after numerous complaints about the conditions in which senior citizens are waiting for assistance.
