Prepare for the Exciting “El BebĂ©” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito!
Mark your calendars for March 30th, as Rosarito’s “Playa El BebĂ©” becomes the venue for the inaugural round of Baja California’s state fishing competition. This event is set to kick off with a bang, with an anticipated large turnout of anglers from both the state and Southern California.
The tournament is a part of the official calendar supported by the Baja California government and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The event will be spearheaded by the TJ Fishing Club, with Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno leading the charge.
Participants will compete in the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments aimed at qualifying them for the State Championship. The day begins at 5:00 AM with participant registration, followed by the official fishing start at 7:00 AM. Weigh-ins will conclude at 1:00 PM, allowing anyone in line by that time to compete.
Prizes will be awarded to different categories including children’s, women’s, and for various types of fish species such as mojarra, among others. Additional festivities include raffles and delicious local fish dishes.

Victor Hugo Méndez, Sport Fishing head at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial assistance to the organizers to support the event’s expenses.
Sign-ups are available both the day of the event and beforehand at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Future rounds of the tournament will take place on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El PabellĂłn in San QuintĂn, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San QuintĂn. Successful competitors from these events could earn the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, set for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
