Prepare for an Exciting Day at the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th

The picturesque Playa El Bebé in Rosarito is set to host the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. This event promises to be a popular gathering, with last year’s tournament drawing nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California.

As part of the official calendar for SEPESCA BC and backed by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, this event is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The local TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, is spearheading the event this year.

This tournament marks the first of three selective beach fishing events that qualify participants for the State Championship. Participants can register at 5:00 AM on the day of the event, with fishing commencing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in finishes by 1:00 PM, allowing everyone in line by that time to compete.

Awards will be given for various categories including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. Attendees can also look forward to raffles and delicious local fish dishes. For more details on registration, costs, rules, and prizes, interested anglers can contact 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or send an email to tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More information is also available on their website.

Thanks to financial support presented by Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, the event is expected to run smoothly. Anglers can register on the day of the event or pre-sign up at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking ahead, the next rounds of the competition will take place on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. The top anglers from these tournaments will go on to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
