### Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th
Attention all fishing enthusiasts! Rosarito is set to host the much-anticipated “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament on Sunday, March 30th, at Playa El Bebé. This event marks the first round of the Baja California state fishing competition, and it’s promising to draw a significant number of participants yet again after last year’s success, which saw nearly 150 anglers from both the state and Southern California.
Organized under the official calendar of SEPESCA BC and supported by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the tournament is spearheaded by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. This year’s event is being hosted by TJ Fishing Club, represented by leaders Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
This beach fishing tournament is the first of three that will select participants for the State Championship. It will begin at the early hour of 5:00 AM for registration, with lines hitting the water at 7:00 AM. Anglers must have their catches ready for the weigh-in by 1:00 PM, maintaining eligibility as long as they’re in line by the deadline.
Prizes will be awarded for various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. Expect plenty of excitement with raffles and local seafood delicacies on offer. Those interested in participating can gather more information on registration, fees, rules, and prizes by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173 or emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More details can also be found on their official website.
Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial support to the organizers to assist with event expenses. Anglers can register on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking ahead, the next rounds of the state competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. The top fishers from these events will have the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco, taking place September 19-20.
