**Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th**
Rosarito’s picturesque Playa El Bebé is all set to host the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition this Sunday, March 30th. Aspiring anglers and seasoned fishermen alike can look forward to a vibrant event, as last year’s tournament garnered participation from nearly 150 competitors hailing from around the state and Southern California.
The tournament is part of the official calendar of SEPESCA BC and is held under the auspices of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. The Baja California Fishing Clubs Association organizes this event, with this year’s proceedings being spearheaded by the TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
This tournament marks the beginning of three selective beach fishing competitions that will ultimately qualify participants for the State Championship. The day begins early at 5:00 AM with registration for all participants. Official fishing will commence at 7:00 AM, and entrants have until 1:00 PM for the final weigh-in, provided they’re in line by the deadline.
At the conclusion of the event, prizes will be awarded across various categories, such as children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species. Attendees can also enjoy raffles and culinary delights made from locally caught fish.
For those eager to participate, details regarding registration, costs, rules, and prizes can be obtained by contacting 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or via email at tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information can also be found on their official website.
In a bid to support the success of the event, Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial assistance to the organizers to aid event costs.
Interested competitors can register on the event day or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking ahead, the next legs of the state series will take place on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, managed by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Successful participants will secure the chance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, scheduled to be held September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
