**Exciting Times: The “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament Set to Cast Off in Rosarito**

Get ready for some thrilling action as the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament is set to take place at Rosarito’s Playa El Bebé on Sunday, March 30th. This eagerly anticipated event marks the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition, and a significant turnout is anticipated, with last year’s event drawing nearly 150 participants from across the state and Southern California.

Organized under the official calendar of SEPESCA BC, the tournament is supported by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda and orchestrated by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. This year, the TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, will host the event.

The tournament is the first of three selective beach fishing events that will determine qualifiers for the State Championship. Activities commence at 5:00 AM with registration, and fishing officially begins at 7:00 AM. By 1:00 PM, the weigh-in closes, though participants already in line before the cutoff will still be in the running.

Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories, including children’s, women’s, and specific fish types such as mojarra. The day will also feature raffles and a selection of locally-sourced fish dishes.

For those interested in joining the competition, details on registration, costs, rules, and prizes can be obtained by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information is available on their website.

Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial support to the organizers to aid with event expenses. Participants can register on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking ahead, the following rounds of the state competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top performers will earn the chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, set for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.

**Rosarito Focuses on Infrastructure and Safety**

In recent developments, Rosarito has invested a substantial 22 million pesos into major infrastructure projects aimed at revitalizing the Primo Tapia area. These improvements are expected to enhance community infrastructure and boost local tourism.

Moreover, the region has faced increased wildfire risk due to a dry winter and Santa Ana winds. As a result, authorities have expanded programs to support deported Mexicans, recognizing the heightened challenges they face under these conditions.

Overall, the city is taking steps to address current environmental issues and support its residents amid changing climatic conditions.
