**Excitement Builds for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th**
Rosarito is set to become a hub of fishing excitement as the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament kicks off on March 30th. Hosted at Playa El Bebé, this event marks the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition, with participation expected from anglers across the region and Southern California. Last year, the tournament attracted nearly 150 fishing enthusiasts, promising an equally spirited event this year.
This tournament is officially part of the Baja California SEPESCA competition schedule, receiving support from Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. Organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, the event is hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
The tournament will launch at 5:00 AM, beginning with registration, while the fishing officially starts at 7:00 AM. Competitors must weigh in their catches by 1:00 PM to be eligible for the competition. Participants can look forward to prizes in several categories, including children’s, women’s, and specific fish species. Additionally, the day will feature raffles and local fish delicacies.
For those eager to join in the competition, registration details, cost, and information on rules and prizes are available by contacting 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Further information can also be found on the TJ Fishing Club’s website.
In a show of support, Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial backing to the organizers to help defray event costs.
Participants have the option to register on the day of the event, or they can pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
The excitement won’t end here. Following the event in Rosarito, subsequent rounds of the state competition will be held on April 27th in Ensenada and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín. Top performers from these tournaments will earn the chance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco, in September.
