Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Rosarito is gearing up for an exciting fishing event as Playa El Bebé hosts the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. This highly anticipated tournament is set to attract a large number of anglers from across the region, following last year’s impressive turnout of nearly 150 participants from the state and Southern California.
The tournament is a key part of the SEPESCA BC’s official calendar and receives strong support from Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. It’s organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, under the leadership of Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
This event marks the beginning of three selective beach fishing tournaments that determine qualification for the state championship. The day’s activities will commence bright and early, with registration opening at 5:00 AM and the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in concludes at 1:00 PM, ensuring that all who are in line by that time have their catches counted.
Various prizes will be awarded across different categories, including for children, women, mojarra, and various other species. Participants can also look forward to raffles and enjoy local culinary delights made with fresh fish.
Interested anglers can register on the day of the event or pre-register at designated locations such as Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria. Subsequent rounds of the state competition are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín. The top anglers from these contests will earn the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, taking place on September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
