**Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th**
Mark your calendars for an exciting day of fishing as Rosarito hosts the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament on March 30th. The event will take place at Playa El Bebé, serving as the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition. Organizers are expecting a large turnout following last year’s success, which saw nearly 150 participants from across the state and Southern California.
This tournament is a part of the official calendar of the Baja California State Secretariat for Fisheries and Acuaculture (SEPESCA BC), and is supported by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. The TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, is managing this event, which is the first of three that will determine entrants for the State Championship.
Activities will begin early with registration at 5:00 AM and the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. Participants must have their catches weighed before the cut-off time of 1:00 PM to be eligible. Various prizes will be awarded in categories including children’s and women’s divisions, as well as in types of catches like mojarra. Attendees can also look forward to raffles and enjoying meals prepared with local fish.
Interested competitors can find more details about registration, fees, and rules by calling 664-493-6014 or 664-339-9173, or emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com.
Looking forward, the second round of the state competition will be held on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada by Club Pura Vida, followed by the third on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, hosted by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Successful anglers from these events will have the opportunity to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Jalisco later this year.
