Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Rosarito’s “Playa El Bebé” is gearing up to host the highly anticipated first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. Organizers are expecting a strong turnout, matching or even surpassing last year’s impressive showing of nearly 150 anglers from across the region and Southern California.
This tournament is part of the official event calendar of SEPESCA BC, backed by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. This year, the event is hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, under the leadership of Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
The tournament marks the first of three selective beach fishing competitions that determine qualifiers for the State Championship. Registration opens at 5:00 AM, with the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will close at 1:00 PM, ensuring that participants in line by that time can compete for victory.
Participants will vie for prizes in various categories, including children’s, women’s, and species like mojarra. Additionally, there will be raffles and local fish cuisine available.

Looking ahead, the following rounds in the state competition are slated for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, organized by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, managed by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top anglers from these competitions will have a chance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco, on September 19-20.
