Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Rosarito is gearing up to host the highly anticipated “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament on Sunday, March 30th. Taking place at Playa El Bebé, this event marks the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition. Organizers are expecting a large turnout after last year’s tournament attracted nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California.
This event is officially on the SEPESCA BC calendar, with backing from Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, and is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The host for this year’s tournament is the TJ Fishing Club, under the leadership of Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
Participants will vie for spots in the State Championship through this tournament and two more selective beach fishing competitions. The day begins at 5:00 AM with registration, while the fishing officially kicks off at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in closes at 1:00 PM, but any participants in line by that time will still have their catch counted.
At the end of the day, prizes will be awarded in different categories, including children’s, women’s, and various fish species like mojarra. Attendees can also look forward to raffles and delicious local seafood offerings.
For those interested in competing, registration details, costs, rules, and prizes are available by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More information is also accessible via their website.
In support of the event, Victor Hugo Méndez of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC has provided financial assistance to cover some of the expenses.
Anglers eager to join the competition can register on the event day or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Upcoming Rounds:
The subsequent rounds of the state competition are slated for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, organized by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, hosted by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín.
Top performers will earn the right to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, taking place September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
