Anticipated to draw a significant number of participants, the event promises thrilling experiences for fishing enthusiasts from across the state and Southern California. Last year’s event saw around 150 anglers eager to showcase their skills in the tournament.

This competition is part of the official calendar of SEPESCA BC, backed by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. It is being organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, with the TJ Fishing Club’s Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno leading the event.

Marking the first of three selective beach fishing contests, this tournament is a stepping stone towards qualifying for the State Championship. The day will begin with anglers registering at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will close at 1:00 PM, ensuring that everyone in line can compete within the time frame.

Categories up for competition include children’s, women’s, and various fish species such as mojarra, with prizes up for grabs. Additionally, there will be raffles and locally sourced fish dishes available for all to enjoy.

Victor Hugo Méndez, who heads Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial aid to the organizers, assisting in covering the event’s expenses. Participants can register on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Following this event, the competition will continue with the next rounds scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín. The top anglers will get the prestigious chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, set for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
