Get Ready for the Exciting “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th
Rosarito’s beautiful “Playa El Bebé” beach is set to host the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. The event promises an exciting day for fishing enthusiasts from all over the state and Southern California. Last year, nearly 150 anglers took part, and organizers anticipate another impressive turnout this year.
This year’s tournament is an integral part of the official calendar of the Baja California Secretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (SEPESCA BC) and has strong backing from the local government. The event is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association in collaboration with the TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
The tournament marks the first of three selective beach fishing events, which will qualify participants for the State Championship. Registration begins at 5:00 AM, and the official fishing starts at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will close at 1:00 PM, but those who are in line by then can still compete.
Participants can look forward to competing in various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other fish species. The tournament will also feature raffles and delicious local fish dishes. Those interested in participating can get more information by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by reaching out via email at tjfishingclub@gmail.com. More details are available on the event’s website.
Victor Hugo Méndez, the Sport Fishing head at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial assistance to the organizers to ensure the event runs smoothly. Competitors can register on the day of the tournament or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking to future events, the next rounds will be held on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada by Club Pura Vida and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Successful anglers from these tournaments will have the chance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship from September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
