Prepare for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th

Rosarito is buzzing with excitement as “Playa El Bebé” gears up for this year’s thrilling fishing tournament, set to take place on Sunday, March 30th. This event marks the first round of the state fishing competition in Baja California. With anticipation running high, a strong turnout is expected, similar to last year when nearly 150 anglers participated from across the region, including Southern California.

This competition is a staple in the official calendar supported by the local government and is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. For this year, the TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, takes the helm in organizing the event.

Kicking off at 5:00 AM with registration, participants will start casting their lines at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in deadline is set for 1:00 PM, catering to all in line by that time. Various categories await participants, notably children, women, and different fish species like mojarra. Exciting raffles and delicious local fish dishes will make for a well-rounded day of fun and competition.

Interested anglers are encouraged to register in advance or on the day of the event. More information can be sought by contacting either 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional details are available on their official website.

Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has supported the event financially to ensure its success.

Following “El Bebé,” the competition moves to Sunset Beach in Ensenada on April 27th, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and then to Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín on July 20th, organized by the Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. The top competitors from these tournaments will advance to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, scheduled for September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
