Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Rosarito’s beautiful “Playa El Bebé” will be the stage for the opening round of Baja California’s state fishing competition this Sunday, March 30th. The organizers anticipate a significant turnout, with last year’s event attracting around 150 anglers from both the state and Southern California.
This tournament is part of the official Baja California fishing competition calendar, supported by the state governor’s administration and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. This year’s event is hosted by TJ Fishing Club, with representatives Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno spearheading the activities.
The tournament is the first of three selective beach fishing events that will determine the qualifiers for the State Championship. Participants can register at 5:00 AM, with fishing officially beginning at 7:00 AM. Weigh-in is set to close at 1:00 PM, but all participants in line at that time will be eligible to compete.
At the end of the day, prizes will be awarded in various categories including children’s, women’s, and different species like mojarra. There will also be raffles and local seafood for attendees to enjoy.
Interested participants can obtain information regarding registration, costs, rules, and prizes by contacting 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional details can be found on the club’s website.
The event receives backing from Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, who recently provided financial support to help offset event expenses.
Participants can register on the day of the tournament, or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada and Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Upcoming rounds in the state competition will take place on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín.
The top anglers from these events will have the chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, set for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
