Fishing enthusiasts, mark your calendars for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament happening in Rosarito on March 30th! This much-anticipated event takes place at Rosarito’s “Playa El Bebé” and is the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition this year. The tournament is expected to attract many anglers, with last year’s event drawing nearly 150 participants from across the state and Southern California.

The tournament is part of the official schedule for Baja California’s fishing activities and receives support from Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. Organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, this year’s event is being hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.

As the inaugural event in a series of three selective beach fishing tournaments, participants will have the opportunity to qualify for the State Championship. The day kicks off with registration beginning at 5:00 AM. The fishing officially starts at 7:00 AM, with the weigh-in closing at 1:00 PM, granting participants in line by that time a chance to compete.

Throughout the day, categories such as children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species will have awards, alongside exciting raffles and delicious local fish delicacies. Interested participants can find registration details, costs, rules, and prizes by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information is also available on the club’s website.

In a show of support, Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial backing to help cover the event’s expenses. Registration is available on the event day, or you can pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
