Prepare for the Thrilling “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito on March 30th
Rosarito’s picturesque “Playa El Bebé” is set to host the inaugural round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. The event is expected to draw a large crowd, as it did last year when nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California participated.
This tournament marks the beginning of three selective beach fishing competitions leading up to the State Championship. The event is endorsed by Baja California’s SEPESCA BC, with support from Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association. The TJ Fishing Club, headed by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, is the host this year.
Participants can register on the day of the event starting at 5:00 AM. The excitement kicks off with fishing at 7:00 AM, and the weigh-in concludes at 1:00 PM. Category-based awards will be presented post-tournament, including those for children, women, mojarra, and various other species. Attendees can also look forward to raffles and a tasty selection of local seafood prepared right at the venue.
For those eager to join in the fun, further details on registration, costs, rules, and prizes can be acquired by contacting 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information is available on the organization’s official website.
In a show of support, Victor Hugo Méndez, the head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial assistance to help with event expenses. Competitors can register on-site or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or at the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Following the Rosarito event, the state competition will continue with the next rounds scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada featuring Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Successful anglers will have the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship on September 19-20 in Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
