Prepare for an Exciting “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th

Rosarito’s “Playa El Bebé” is set to host the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th, promising to be a thrilling event for fishing enthusiasts. Last year, the tournament attracted close to 150 anglers from both the state and Southern California, highlighting its growing popularity.

Organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association under the support of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, this event marks the inaugural round of a three-part series that serves as a qualifier for the State Championship. The tournament, organized by the TJ Fishing Club’s own Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, will begin bright and early with registration at 5:00 AM. Competitors will start casting their lines at 7:00 AM, with weigh-ins concluding at 1:00 PM. Participants queued up by the close of weigh-ins are still able to compete for prizes.

Prizes will be awarded in various categories, including children’s, women’s, and specific species such as the mojarra. Beyond the fishing itself, attendees can also look forward to raffles and locally sourced culinary delights made from fresh fish.

Those eager to participate can get more details on registration, fees, rules, and prizes by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Additional information is available on the TJ Fishing Club website.

To support the event, SEPESCA BC’s head of Sport Fishing, Victor Hugo Méndez, has provided financial assistance to the organizers to help cover expenses. Enthusiasts can register on the event day or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or at the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

Looking towards the rest of the competition, the second round will be hosted by Club Pura Vida on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, and the final round will take place on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. The top anglers from these tournaments will earn the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship, scheduled for September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.
