Rosarito is set to host the highly anticipated “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament, marking the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. Enthusiasts from across the region are expected to gather at Playa El Bebé, following a successful turnout of nearly 150 anglers last year from both the state and Southern California.

The tournament is an integral event on the official calendar supported by Baja California’s state policies under Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration. This year’s event, organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, will be hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.

This tournament marks the beginning of a series of three selective beach fishing events that will determine participants for the State Championship. Registration will open at 5:00 AM, followed by the official start of fishing at 7:00 AM. Participants must ensure their catch is accounted for by 1:00 PM when the weigh-in closes.

Prizes will be awarded in different categories including children’s, women’s, and various species categories like mojarra. Attendees can also enjoy raffles and local fish delicacies.

To participate, interested individuals can register on the day of the event or pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria. For more information, potential participants can contact via phone at 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173 or by sending an email to tjfishingclub@gmail.com.

The event has garnered support from SEPESCA BC, with financial aid offered by Victor Hugo Méndez to assist with organizational expenses. Following Rosarito, the competition will continue on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín. Winners will have the opportunity to represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Jalisco this September.
