Rosarito is set to welcome anglers from across Baja California and Southern California as the inaugural round of the state fishing competition kicks off at “Playa El Bebé” this Sunday, March 30th. This anticipated event, organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and supported by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s administration, promises to attract a significant turnout. Last year, nearly 150 participants competed, showcasing their skills in this celebrated beach fishing tournament.

Hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, led by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, the tournament is the first of three selective events that will qualify anglers for the prestigious State Championship. Participants can register starting at 5:00 AM, with fishing beginning officially at 7:00 AM, and weigh-ins concluding at 1:00 PM for those already in line.

Competitors will vie for awards in various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other fish species, with additional opportunities to win through raffles. Local dishes prepared with freshly caught fish will add to the event festivities. For those interested in joining the tournament, registration details, costs, rules, and prizes can be obtained by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173, or by emailing tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial support to ensure the success of the tournament. Participants can also pre-register at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or the Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.

After Rosarito, the competition will continue with rounds in Ensenada on April 27th at Sunset Beach, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and wrapping up on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, under the organization of Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Top performers will earn the honor to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship from September 19-20 at Playa Manzanilla, Jalisco.

**Baja California Braces for Strong Winds and Choppy Seas**

As anglers prepare for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament, they’re advised to stay alert to a weather advisory affecting Baja California. Meteorologists have forecasted strong winds and rough sea conditions, urging caution for those partaking in water-related activities around the region. This comes as part of broader cooling trends expected in the upcoming days.

Such weather conditions might impact fishing strategies and require participants to stay informed through local weather updates to ensure their safety and competitive advantage. The weather changes underscore the unpredictable elements anglers often face, adding an extra layer of challenge to their sporting pursuits.

While the weather poses some challenges, organizers remain optimistic about the tournament, confident that the fishing community’s enthusiasm and precautionary measures will make the event both safe and memorable.
