Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Rosarito’s renowned Playa El Bebé is gearing up to host the first leg of Baja California’s state fishing competition on Sunday, March 30th. This exciting event is expected to draw a large crowd, with nearly 150 anglers from across the state and Southern California showing interest last year.
The tournament is included in the official calendar of SEPESCA BC and receives support from the local government. It is organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and this year, it is hosted by the TJ Fishing Club. The club representatives, Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno, promise a thrilling event for all participants and spectators.
Kicking off the tournament day at 5:00 AM with angler registration, the actual fishing will begin at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in, which will determine the winners, closes at 1:00 PM. Those who are in line by that time will still be eligible to compete.
Participants can look forward to exciting prizes across various categories, including those for children and women, as well as awards for specific fish species like mojarra. Additionally, the event will feature raffles and local fish delicacies.

Following this event, the next rounds of the state competition will continue on April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada and on July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín. The top anglers from these events will represent Baja California at the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in September in Jalisco.
