Get Ready for the “El Bebé” Fishing Tournament in Rosarito This March 30th
Fishing enthusiasts, mark your calendars for March 30th as Playa El Bebé in Rosarito is set to host the exciting first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition. This upcoming Sunday, fishermen from across the region and Southern California will gather to test their skills in this highly anticipated event.
Supported by the administration of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda and organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association, this tournament is an esteemed part of the official calendar for SEPESCA BC. This year, the event is brought to life by the efforts of TJ Fishing Club, represented by Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
The tournament serves as the first of three selective events that pave the way to the State Championship. Participants can start registering at 5:00 AM on the day, with the fishing officially commencing at 7:00 AM. The day’s competitive vibe will culminate at a 1:00 PM weigh-in, allowing anyone in line by that time to have their catch count.
Participants will vie for prizes in various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and other species categories. Besides the thrilling competition, there will be raffles and local fish delicacies served up for attendees.
Eager participants can find details on registration, fees, rules, and prize information by calling 664 493 6014 or 664 339 9173 or emailing the organizers at tjfishingclub@gmail.com. Full information is also available on their website. Incorporating community support, Victor Hugo Méndez, head of Sport Fishing at SEPESCA BC, has provided financial backing to ensure the event’s success.
For those interested in competing, registration is available on the day of the event or in advance at Pesca del Mar Outdoors in Ensenada or Fishing Crew Store in La Gloria.
Looking forward, subsequent rounds are scheduled for April 27th at Sunset Beach in Ensenada, hosted by Club Pura Vida, and July 20th at Playa El Pabellón in San Quintín, organized by Pioleros del Valle de San Quintín. Victorious anglers from these tournaments will have the chance to represent Baja California in the VI National Beach Sport Fishing Championship in Jalisco on September 19-20.
