Anglers, mark your calendars! On March 30th, Rosarito’s “Playa El Bebé” will be buzzing with excitement as it hosts the first round of Baja California’s state fishing competition. This annual event has become a staple for fishing enthusiasts from across the state and Southern California. Last year’s tournament saw nearly 150 participants, and this year’s turnout is expected to be robust.
Organized by the Baja California Fishing Clubs Association and supported by the administration led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, this competition is integral to the official calendar of SEPESCA BC. The tournament is hosted by the TJ Fishing Club, under the guidance of Nemesio Salazar Vázquez and Omar Reyes Moreno.
This is just the first of three selective beach fishing tournaments. Participants will compete for a place in the State Championship. Registration for the event kicks off at 5:00 AM, with the fishing commencing at 7:00 AM. The weigh-in will conclude at 1:00 PM, but those in line by that time can still be counted.
Participants can look forward to awards in various categories, including children’s, women’s, mojarra, and others, along with raffles and locally-crafted seafood dishes.
