**New Hospital Opens in Eastern Zone: Aims to Serve Nearly 300,000 Residents**
Tijuana, Mexico – As of this Wednesday, the Eastern Zone General Hospital has officially commenced operations. This new healthcare facility is projected to serve over 289,000 patients initially from the eastern part of the city and the neighboring municipality of Tecate. The state government announced during its weekly briefing that a total investment of 626 million pesos was dedicated to the construction and equipping of the hospital.
The director of IMSS Bienestar, Alejandro Svarch PĂ©rez, shared that 21 medical specialists have already been hired, with additional recruiting underway to fill remaining positions. The hospital will offer various specialties including gynecology, cardiology, otorhinolaryngology, pediatrics, psychology, and emergency services.
With 110 beds, six operating rooms, seven consultation offices, two trauma rooms, 20 emergency beds, and a state-of-the-art CT scanner, the hospital is well-equipped to handle a variety of medical needs. “The challenge is not the inauguration, but maintaining this as a public resource for the benefit of the community,” a federal official emphasized. Notably, patients do not need to be affiliated with a specific healthcare provider to receive care, allowing the hospital to serve a broader population.
