### Construction of East Zone Hospital Completed; Opening Date Still Unconfirmed

The construction of the East Zone Hospital in Baja California has been completed, but an official opening date has not yet been determined, according to Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, head of the Secretariat of Urban Infrastructure Development and Territorial Reorganization (SIDURT).

Announced by the governor of Baja California on December 10, 2022, and initially slated for completion in December 2023, the hospital’s operational tests began fifteen days ago. However, issues such as necessary cleaning of oxygen pipes are still being addressed. Espinoza detailed that all medical equipment, including beds, operating rooms, isolated X-ray and CT rooms, has been installed.

The facility also boasts finished parking and outpatient areas, ready for further investments. Espinoza emphasized that additional specialized federal health areas are needed for full operation. Staff training of nurses and doctors is ongoing, and the Health Department will soon finalize the hospital’s opening date.

The project represents a significant investment: 270 million pesos from the state government and 41 million pesos from IMSS Bienestar for equipment. The first operational phase will include 385 new positions and various medical facilities, including 60 censed beds, a 60-bed recovery area, an emergency area, a shock room, six operating rooms, a humanized childbirth room, and three outpatient surgery operating rooms.
