Early Breast Check Call

**Empowered Survivor Inspires Early Detection** Blanca Campaña, a breast cancer survivor, urges young women to proactively self-examine. Community initiatives, like ‘Pink Module,’ advocate for early detection and breast health education globally.

**Breast Cancer Survivor Encourages Young Women to Self-Examine**

In a heartfelt message, Blanca Campaña, a 12-year breast cancer survivor, urges young women to begin regular self-examinations and annual screenings. With a support group that includes a 13-year-old battling breast cancer, Campaña emphasizes the importance of being proactive about breast health, regardless of age or symptoms.

Blanca recounts her journey starting in 2012 when she underwent a mastectomy. Despite being eligible for reconstructive surgery five years later, her fears of facing another surgery held her back. Now, at 58, she is set to undergo the procedure with the help of the Clínica Génesis in Rosarito.

“I have some fear because the doctor says it’s not an easy operation, but it’s a gift,” Campaña revealed. Having grown accustomed to living without a breast, she finds wearing a prosthesis inconvenient.

She advises women to regularly perform self-examinations in the shower, using their fingers to check for any lumps or irregularities from the armpit to the breast. Blanca stresses, “If you feel anything unusual, see an oncologist immediately.”

**Breast Cancer Awareness Initiatives on the Rise**

Efforts to promote early detection and awareness of breast cancer continue to grow globally. In recent news, a new initiative named ‘Pink Module’ has been installed at Macroplaza to facilitate the early detection of breast cancer. These installations provide essential resources and information to help individuals identify potential signs of breast cancer early on.

Health experts remind us that breast cancer can also occur in men, emphasizing the need for awareness across all genders. Local health departments are working to address the scarcity of reconstructive surgery options for cancer patients, aiming to provide comprehensive support as part of cancer care.

Meanwhile, educational workshops and initiatives are being implemented in various communities, focused on teaching breast health and self-examination techniques. These programs aim to empower individuals with knowledge and tools to take charge of their health.

Whether through self-examinations at home or utilizing resources like the Pink Module, the message remains clear: early detection saves lives.
