The two individuals, identified as foreign residents, were fined 10,858 pesos each for neglecting to control their dogs, which roamed freely on the beaches and attacked the turtles. In addition to the financial penalty, the owners must donate 25 kilograms of dog food to the Municipal Canine Care Center (CEMAC).

Graciela Tiburcio praised the swift response from local authorities and stated that economic sanctions are crucial in addressing this issue.
