### Workers of DIF’s Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center (CRI) Begin Striking for Better Wages
Starting this Monday, 23 employees at the DIF State Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center (CRI) in Tijuana have commenced working under protest. These employees, including psychologists, physical therapists, special education teachers, IT specialists, language therapists, and social workers, are demanding a salary increase.
Patients arriving for physical and psychological therapy were not informed of the temporary suspension of services, leading to the rescheduling of treatments. Nereyda Quirija, 54, who has been receiving physical therapy treatments for the past three months to address cortical arthritis and spinal degeneration, mentioned how the labor strike has impacted her treatment. “I haven’t been discharged yet, and if I stop therapy, it will significantly affect my ability to walk and my overall health,” she stated.
Guadalupe BarrĂ³n Diego, whose five-year-old son requires behavioral therapy for autism, expressed frustration over the delay caused by the protest. She had waited a year for her current appointment, and now her son has been placed back on the waiting list. Despite formally requesting a salary increase multiple times over the past decade, workers have not received any raises.
In July, employees of the DIF center had also protested the stagnant wages. The lack of progress has forced them to take a stand once again, fully aware that their actions disrupt essential therapy services. Patients affected by the strike hope for a resolution soon, as continued delays could set back their therapeutic progress.
