**Cyclist Killed in Mexicali After Collision Involving Two Vehicles**
In a tragic traffic accident on Monday morning, March 31, a cyclist lost his life and material damages were inflicted on the Cetys Avenue, near the university of the same name in Mexicali.
The incident was reported shortly after 7 a.m., involving a Chevrolet Camaro from 2012 and a Toyota pickup from 2019. According to the Mexicali Public Security Directorate, the Camaro, driven by a 23-year-old named Jesús, failed to stop at a red light. At the same time, a woman driving the Toyota was making a return with the green light. This led to the collision between the two vehicles.
As a result of the impact, the pickup was pushed towards a cyclist traveling in the right lane, causing severe injuries to the cyclist, identified as 48-year-old Eredin de los Santos. Paramedics at the scene from the Mexican Red Cross pronounced him dead upon their arrival.
Jesús has been detained for allegedly causing the accident and is currently under investigation by the State’s General Prosecutor’s Office.
