Cuauhtémoc Blvd Closure Update

As Boulevard Cuauhtémoc Sur closes for Node Morelos setup, scheduled night operations seek minimal traffic disruption with contraflow lanes and enhanced safety measures. Tijuana improves traffic management amidst ongoing construction projects.

**Boulevard Cuauhtémoc Closure for Node Morelos Setup Operations**

As part of ongoing infrastructure improvements, Boulevard Cuauhtémoc Sur will experience a partial closure starting Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 9:00 PM. This temporary closure is due to the hoisting operations required for the construction of the Morelos Node, as confirmed by Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territorial Reorganization.

These operations are strategically scheduled at night to minimize traffic disruptions. They will primarily occur at the South Bypass from Playas de Tijuana to Playas de Rosarito and Santa Fe via Boulevard Cuauhtémoc Sur. The closure will affect several incorporation points, including from 5y10 toward Playas de Rosarito, Santa Fe, and towards Zona Centro.

Traffic moving towards Santa Fe and Playas de Rosarito will have a contraflow lane near the Rendichicas gas station to maintain vehicle circulation. Additionally, an exclusive lane will be available for access to the South Bypass for those heading to Playas de Tijuana and 5y10.

To ensure safety, the work area will be equipped with permanent barriers and illuminated signage. Espinoza Jaramillo urges drivers to follow all traffic personnel instructions and road signs. “We appreciate the public’s understanding during these works and remain committed to enhancing urban development and road infrastructure in Baja California,” he emphasized.

In a statement, Espinoza Jaramillo mentioned alternative routes for those traveling from downtown Tijuana to Playas de Rosarito and vice versa. Options include Río de la Concepción Avenue from the 5y10 area through the South Bypass to downtown, and Boulevard Esmeralda for merging onto Jardines Eternos Avenue.

For travel towards Santa Fe, commuters can use Francisco Zarco Boulevard connecting at Valle Sur or Mar de Cortez Boulevard following an initial route on Francisco Zarco.

**Secondary Update: Traffic Management in Tijuana Amidst Construction Projects**

In recent developments, Tijuana has undergone several infrastructure projects aimed at improving road networks and reducing congestion. These activities, while beneficial long term, have posed challenges for local traffic management.

Given these circumstances, authorities have increased measures to facilitate smoother traffic flows. Innovations include real-time traffic updates through digital platforms, enhanced road signage, and the recruitment of additional traffic personnel during peak hours.

Efforts to alleviate congestion have also been complemented by community engagement initiatives, where residents are encouraged to share feedback and suggest improvements on affected routes.

Looking ahead, the city administration plans to integrate smart traffic systems that will dynamically respond to real-time traffic conditions, potentially reducing delays associated with such infrastructural upgrades. As each project progresses, efforts continue to be made to balance the immediate impacts on daily commutes with the long-term benefits aiming for a more efficient urban transport network.
