The second annual “Corre Trasciende 5K” charity race is scheduled for May 24th and will commence and conclude at the municipal DIF facilities in the third stage of the Río. This 5-kilometer event aims to raise funds for Donando Trascendemos, a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing a children’s shelter for abused kids along the border.

Yolanda Argelia Cordero Silva, the foundation’s president, announced that the race will include cash prizes for both men’s and women’s categories: 3,000 pesos for first place, 2,000 for second, and 1,000 for third. Additionally, participants with disabilities will receive financial rewards of 1,000, 600, and 500 pesos. There will also be a children’s race featuring 100, 300, and 500-meter distances, with school supply kits awarded as prizes.

The first 300 participants to finish the race will be rewarded with a medal and a dry-fit shirt. Cordero Silva emphasized that the race is not just about competition but also encourages family unity, community values, and a commitment to health through regular sports engagement. She noted, “This race is about more than just athletics; it’s about fostering solidarity and community support.”

Participants who wish to run, jog, or walk will find the course both safe and enjoyable, with a well-planned route. Interested individuals can register online at www.corretrasciende.com for a 250-peso fee.
