### Congress to Approve Judiciary Reform on “Fast Track”; Olga Sánchez Hospitalized

The Coordination Boards of both chambers of the Congress of the Union, representing all political groups, have unanimously approved the discussion and voting of the judiciary reform in a single session on September 3, 2024.

Following the Coordination Board meeting at San Lázaro, Ricardo Monreal Ávila, the coordinator for Morena in the Chamber of Deputies, confirmed that they had agreed to hold the session in an alternate venue due to logistical challenges. The session was scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM and would cover both the general discussion and the reservation points presented by the different parliamentary groups, though the exact number of reservations had not been calculated.

Monreal Ávila announced, “We have just completed the Coordination Board and Directive Board meetings, and both governing bodies [of San Lázaro] have approved the change of venue and the day’s agenda.”

In the Senate, the decision includes forwarding the approved minute immediately to relevant committees for further discussion and eventual approval. Additionally, in a separate vote, it was decided that sessions could be held at alternate locations when there are “force majeure” conditions.

On a related note, Olga María del Carmen Sánchez Cordero Dávila, a federal deputy for Morena, revealed through her social media account that she had been hospitalized. “Yesterday after the meetings in the Chamber of Deputies, I started feeling unwell. Early this morning, I saw my cardiologist who recommended hospitalization due to my history of heart surgery,” she stated.

Expressing regret, she added, “I regret not being able to participate in the legislative work. I hope pathways for dialogue and consensus can be found.”
