Clouthier Leads IME Under Sheinbaum

Tatiana Clouthier now heads the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, a key appointment by President-elect Sheinbaum Pardo to strengthen ties with Mexican communities overseas.

## Tatiana Clouthier Joins Sheinbaum’s Cabinet; Appointed Head of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad

Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo has been appointed by President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo as the head of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME). The announcement was made on August 20, 2024, during a press conference held at Sheinbaum’s transition office.

“I’m going to share some big news,” Sheinbaum revealed. “The person who will be in charge of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad is Tatiana Clouthier.”

Sheinbaum noted that serving in this role aligns with Clouthier’s life circumstances as she resides in Nuevo León, which would facilitate her tasks at the Institute due to its location and proximity to Mexican communities in the U.S.

“We discussed this together because Tatiana and I have a strong bond. I’m grateful for everything she has done for our movement. She is highly knowledgeable about this subject and living in Nuevo León will allow her to remain closely connected with the needs of Mexicans abroad, particularly in the United States,” Sheinbaum added.

The Institute for Mexicans Abroad is an autonomous body under the Secretariat of Foreign Relations (SRE) and is responsible for addressing the initiatives and community needs of Mexicans living and working outside of Mexico.
