### Police Disappearances Lead to Increased Activity, Shootings, and Raids in Baja California Sur

In recent hours, Ciudad Constitución in the municipality of Comondú, Baja California Sur, has experienced significant police presence, shootings, and widespread messages promoting a “curfew.” The lack of information from municipal, state, or federal authorities has left residents concerned.

Authorities have conducted operations across various points in Comondú since September 21. This date marks when relatives reported the disappearance of State Preventive Police officers José Gabriel Morales Meza and Yair Radilla Flores, both 30 years old, assigned to Ciudad Constitución.

The State Public Security Department initiated searches in different residences and detained any suspicious vehicles for inspection.

On the early morning of September 23, State Police units signaled for a blue and gray Honda CRV with four males aboard to stop. The vehicle ignored the request, speeding away and prompting a chase on Álvarez Rico Avenue. The pursuit included shots fired at the fleeing vehicle.

The chase ended at the intersection of Adolfo Ruiz Cortines and Miguel Alemán Valdez boulevards in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood. At least ten State Police officers intercepted the vehicle as it entered a garage, detaining four young men aged 17 to 20, and a 62-year-old disabled resident.

The occupants have accused the police of excessive force and attempted homicide due to the police firing shots and physical aggressions. An investigation under file number CST/806/2024 has begun.

By the afternoon of the same day, police reinforcements from La Paz and Los Cabos, including officers from the State Attorney General’s Office, arrived in the area to strengthen operations. Several raids have been conducted on suspected drug distribution points, although no official information has been released.
