CESPT Ensures Steady Water Supply

CESPT ensures uninterrupted water supply for Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito by enhancing infrastructure. Residents advised to conserve water during peak demand for efficient usage.

### CESPT Recommends Measures to Ensure Continuous Water Supply

**Tijuana** – The State Commission of Public Services of Tijuana (CESPT) is implementing several measures to ensure continuous water supply during this summer season, especially during periods of high demand. These actions aim to guarantee uninterrupted and efficient water service for residents of Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito.

CESPT’s General Director, Jesús García Castro, emphasized that these actions focus on strengthening and rehabilitating the existing infrastructure. Ongoing improvements include upgrades to tanks, pipelines, valves, and other essential components. Specific projects include the rehabilitation of the Otay Tank, the 20-inch transmission line La Presa – Morelos, and the completed rehabilitation of the Sánchez Taboada tank and its booster line reinforcement. These initiatives align with the Governor’s directive to ensure a continuous and equitable water supply for all.

He further highlighted that since the current administration took office, priority has been given to the rehabilitation of infrastructure to increase tank levels. Favorable water levels in the El Carrizo reservoir, currently holding 27 million cubic meters—more than half its total capacity—make this an opportune time for these actions.

However, García Castro noted that despite increased water availability, citizens should take precautions since temperatures reached up to 29 degrees Celsius this week, typically leading to higher water demand. This increased demand can result in reduced levels in supply tanks.

To promote more efficient water use, CESPT recommends simple practices to the community, such as watering plants and gardens at night, preferably with recycled water, avoiding washing sidewalks and cars with hoses, reusing laundry water for toilets or floor cleaning, taking showers of less than 5 minutes, using water-saving devices at home, and maintaining taps, seals, and general plumbing.

### Secondary Article: Additional Water Supply Measures Amid Rising Demand

In response to rising temperatures and water demand, the CESPT is taking proactive steps to secure Tijuana’s water supply. With temperatures hitting 29 degrees Celsius this week, water consumption tends to spike, potentially leading to supply challenges, especially in higher-altitude areas of the city.

One of the critical projects underway is the reinforcement of the Otay tank infrastructure, coupled with the maintenance of major pipelines like the 20-inch La Presa – Morelos line. Meanwhile, the Sánchez Taboada tank has undergone necessary rehabilitation, including enhancements to its booster line. These upgrades are crucial to maintaining a reliable water supply throughout the summer months.

The El Carrizo reservoir currently holds 27 million cubic meters of water, which is more than half of its full capacity. This level is favorable and provides a buffer that allows the CESPT to undertake pressing infrastructure improvements.

Residents are advised to adopt water-saving practices to support the city’s efforts in managing water resources efficiently. Suggested measures include watering plants during cooler hours, reusing household water, and installing water-efficient fixtures. These steps will help the community navigate periods of high demand without significant disruptions in water supply.
