### Adjustments in CBP One Could Reduce Irregular Migrant Flows: Activist
Tijuana – With recent updates to the CBP One application, it is anticipated that the flow of migrants reaching the northern border will decrease, according to José María García Lara, the director of the Juventud 2000 shelter in Tijuana. García Lara, who also coordinates the Migrant Alliance in Tijuana, welcomed the update, noting that it now allows foreigners to complete their paperwork at the southern border, eliminating the need for them to travel all the way to the north. Additionally, Mexicans will now have the ability to do so from any part of Mexico.
“Reducing irregular migration will be feasible as people can now come with the assurance that they will only need to wait for about two days at the border zone. They arrive with scheduled appointments which will ensure a better interaction within this expanded program,” García Lara expressed.
García Lara pointed out that while migrant flows to this border have remained consistent, they have not been as steady in recent months. Migrants tend to go unnoticed, making it unclear where they settle upon arriving in the area. “It seems like we’re returning to times where the community did not know where migrants were staying or how they got here irregularly,” he added.

### Secondary Article: Expansion of CBP One Locations to ease Migrant Processes
As of August 23, the number of locations where migrants can apply for appointments via CBP One will increase, further aiding in the reduction of irregular migration. The expansion comes amid efforts to streamline the migrant application process and distribute the traffic more evenly along the border.
In addition to the streamlined process, reports indicate that there are currently at least 2,000 spaces available in migrant shelters in Tijuana. This availability is expected to support the continuing influx of migrants, especially with projections of increased crossings towards the end of the year.
### Trends in Migrant Shelter Capacities and Irregular Crossings
Recent reports have shown a decline in irregular crossings into the United States, even as officials predict a potential surge by year-end. The availability of more spaces in shelters, along with the CBP One expansion, is expected to help manage this fluctuation more effectively.
