**Caribbean Series Promises to be a Grand Celebration: Dio Murillo**
Mexicali’s sporting arena is set to host the champions of winter leagues from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic, with Japan joining as a special guest. The 2025 edition of the Caribbean Series will kick off from January 31 to February 7 at Mexicali’s Ciudad Deportiva Stadium.
These days promise to deliver an authentic baseball extravaganza, featuring spirited competition with games scheduled in the afternoons and evenings to maintain an electric atmosphere.
Dio Murillo, president of the Mexicali club, emphasized, “This event not only showcases the best of Caribbean baseball but also serves as a coming together for fans who share a deep passion for the sport. The Caribbean Series in Mexicali is set to be an unforgettable spectacle, and with tickets now on sale, fans have the chance to be part of history and witness each play up close.”
In anticipation of the event, the organizing committee has announced ticket prices for this baseball festival, giving fans the opportunity to plan their attendance. Prices range from 14,999 pesos for Field Jardines seats to 8,499 pesos for View Jardines, offering fans the privilege of experiencing the games from various vantage points within the stadium.
The first phase of sales was exclusively for the season ticket holders in recognition of their unwavering support. Public ticket sales are now open, with efforts being made to combat ticket reselling. Murillo advises, “We encourage everyone considering attending to secure their tickets as soon as possible to find the spot they’ve been eyeing and enjoy the experience, especially with the stadium’s renovations.”
Approximately 100 million pesos have been allocated to the renovation of the Águilas’ home, which includes increasing seating capacity by adding 1,500 new seats, upgrading seating in concrete areas, renovating bathrooms, facades, lighting, elevators, and general access, as well as painting. The renovations are expected to conclude by January 2025.
Addressing the construction challenges during the ongoing season, Murillo shares that the organization is working closely with the state’s government to advance the preparations. “We anticipate the stadium will be nearly complete by December 31, with minor tasks, such as lighting, extending into early January. Currently, we are over 60% complete with restroom renovations, expanded entries, and are working on lighting, seating, and elevators.”
Reflecting on the 2009 edition, Murillo concluded, “While material improvements are limited, our aim is to keep Mexicali informed and engaged, using technological advances to enhance the series. The goal is for attendees to enjoy not just the game but the entire experience.”
