Her brother, Andrés Armando Iwami Agúndez, 20, was the one who initially reported her disappearance. According to him, she had come home from work, did laundry, and mentioned she was going out, but never returned.

Details from the State Security Committee reveal that the alleged perpetrator had an unhealthy obsession with his sister. Between the evening of July 27 and the morning of July 28, Andrés Armando allegedly tried to take advantage of Leslie. She managed to fend him off, but he retaliated by attacking her multiple times with a kitchen knife in the neck and chest, leading to her death through severe blood loss.

Following the attack, Andrės Armando placed Leslie’s body in the trunk of her car and buried it at a property off the highway at kilometer 12.5 between La Paz and Ciudad Constitución. Leslie’s body was found on August 1. Andrės Armando was apprehended on July 31 in Loreto while trying to escape. Bloodstains and the murder weapon were found in the car, along with bloodied cushions and sheets inside a black bag. Further evidence of blood was also found in Leslie’s bedroom.

An initial hearing was held on August 3 where a judge officially charged Andrés Armando and ordered him to be held in preventive detention. Investigations are also underway for possible sexual abuse charges.
