On September 11, 2024, the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa border crossings will temporarily halt operations to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) San Diego Field Office has announced a brief traffic suspension at these and other ports of entry, including Tecate, Calexico East and West, and Andrade.
The moment of silence will take place at 5:46 a.m. to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. During this pause, travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and exercise patience as normal border operations will resume immediately following the ceremony.
