### INDE Flags Off Baja California Delegation for Paranationals CONADE

Laura Marmolejo Toscano, the General Director of Baja California’s Sports Institute (INDE), recently led the flag-off ceremony for athletes set to compete in the 2024 Paranationals CONADE. The competition will occur from September 18th to October 8th in Oaxaca de Juárez and Tlaxcala.

The Baja California delegation consists of 84 members, including athletes, coaches, assistants, and guides. They will compete in four sports disciplines: Boccia, Powerlifting, Athletics, and Swimming.

The ceremony took place on Friday, September 13th, at the High-Performance Center. Joining Marmolejo Toscano on the podium were coaches Zahira Reynoso for Swimming, Guillermo Álvarez for Boccia, María de la Cruz Gaytán for Athletics, and Genaro Almazán for Powerlifting.

Among the honored athletes who received the flag were medalists Lucía Romero, Francisco Zacarías, Maya Tamayo, Luis Ángel Cázares, Sergio Romero, and José Antonio Sánchez.

The Swimming delegation, consisting of 19 athletes, aims to surpass their remarkable performance from 2023 in Cancún, where they secured 35 medals. This time, the competition will be held in Apizaco, Tlaxcala.

Athletics will be represented by the largest group from Baja California, totaling 39 members—seven more than in Quintana Roo. They aim to exceed the 23 medals they won in the official track and field events. The athletics competitions will take place in Oaxaca.
