The selection process for the new state president of the National Action Party (PAN) in Baja California is anticipated to culminate on November 10th. This announcement was made by Christopher Domínguez, the local leader of PAN in Tijuana.

Domínguez specified that the selection of the new state president will coincide with the election of the national president of the party. As per Domínguez, the state presidency decision is expected to be finalized by the state council, with all party members participating in the election.

“At present, we are awaiting the official call for the elections. The expectation is that the selection process for the state’s new leader will align with the national elections scheduled for Sunday, November 10th,” Domínguez elaborated.

He also mentioned that once the call is approved by the National Executive Committee, a signature collection period will commence. Candidates are required to obtain approximately 900 signatures from across the state, representing 10% of the total membership.

Several potential candidates have already shown an interest in the role. Domínguez listed Lizbeth Mata, Sandra Magaña, Briseño, and Ruth Hernández as the current contenders. However, he did not rule out the possibility of more candidates emerging in the coming days.

“I am aware of Lizbeth Mata, Sandra Magaña, Briseño, and Ruth Hernández’s interests directly, but I do know there are more women considering participation. Undoubtedly, we will see more names in the running soon,” Domínguez concluded.

Meanwhile, various societal and economic issues are making headlines in Baja California. The region faces pressing concerns, such as the disappearance of nine digital platform drivers this year, with collective groups estimating around 30,000 missing persons in the state. Other alarming incidents include the apprehension of a teenager for the murder of a Didi driver and the arrest of a man for the femicide of his nurse wife.

Additionally, Tijuana residents are contending with high living costs, elevated tariffs affecting the medical device sector, and preparations for the partial opening of the Viaducto Elevado to ease urban congestion.

Local legal infrastructure is also set to improve with the opening of specialized ‘colmena’ courts, which will exclusively handle civil matters, including property title regularization, succession procedures, and contract rescissions.
