## 42% of Companies in Baja California Hold Infonavit Compliance Certificates
Approximately 17,400 companies in Baja California have received compliance certificates from the Institute of the National Fund for Workers’ Housing (Infonavit). This figure represents around 42% of the 42,000 companies located in the state. Among these certified companies, 15,000 have the “Empresas de Diez” certificate, while 2,400 have the “Empresas de Diez Plus” certificate, according to Ana Lizeth Gómez, the delegate of Infonavit in Baja California. These certifications are issued to businesses that meet the timely payment of employer contributions over at least ten bi-monthly periods, among other requirements.
One of the benefits of obtaining these certifications is that Infonavit provides services directly at workplaces, mitigating the need for workers to take time off to visit Infonavit offices. Additionally, companies with these certifications can receive further benefits in case of fines or requirements due to some omissions.
After the recent distribution of certificates to 50 companies (36 “Empresas de Diez” and 18 “Empresas de Diez Plus”) with a total workforce of 99,112 employees — of whom 53,277 are already eligible for Infonavit credits — the federal official acknowledged the growth in the number of companies meeting full compliance in the state. Gómez highlighted that although a large number of businesses meet their obligations punctually, about 95% of companies pay their contributions on time each bi-monthly period, even if not all obtain the certification due to other factors like high employee turnover or administrative clarifications.
Some of the companies that received certifications on August 9, 2024, include:
– Aluminio de Baja California, S.A. de C.V.
– Central Detallista S.A de C.V.
– Grupo Telvista S.A. de C.V.
– Hyundai de México, S.A. de C.V.
– Toyota Motor Manufacture de BC S. de R.L. de C.V.
– Samsung Mexicana S.A. de C.V.
– Tapicería Pacífico, S.A. de C.V.
– Bolsas y Polietilenos de la Frontera, S.A. de C.V.
– Colegio de Bachilleres de Baja California
– Instituto Educativo del Noroeste, A.C.
The association INCOMEX also received recognition for encouraging its members to comply with employer obligations.
### Infonavit Moves to Plaza Monarca
Ana Lizeth Gómez announced that Infonavit’s new offices in Tijuana will start operating next week at Plaza Monarca in the El Lago neighborhood. “We will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for moving, and the idea is to be fully operational by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday,” she said. The change of address responds to a need for better facilities with more parking spaces, waiting rooms, and easier access to public transportation. The new office will include a waiting area for 60 individuals to improve the service experience for visitors.
