Cristian, a 21-year-old from New York, was assaulted during an altercation at the Baja Beach Fest 2024 in Playas de Rosarito. A viral video captured by festival-goers on the night of Saturday, August 10, shows a young man kicking Cristian multiple times in the head while he lay on the ground.

The same video also shows a group of women fighting amid the chaos, with Cristian unconscious on the floor. Several people eventually step in to stop the altercation. According to a report from the General Hospital of Playas de Rosarito, Cristian was admitted at 11:07 PM on Saturday and discharged on his own at 12:51 AM early Sunday morning.

Cristian’s voluntary discharge was signed by a family member, who arranged for him to be transported to a hospital in the United States, according to medical reports. Contrary to some media reports suggesting that Cristian had died, the state’s General Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) confirmed that there has been no record of a death at Baja Beach Fest. Additionally, the Rosarito Beach Police also did not receive any reports about the altercation or any injuries.

The head of the FGE, María Elena Andrade Ramírez, clarified that a separate homicide in Playas de Rosarito over the weekend is unrelated to the music festival. She did not provide further details about that incident.

The Rosarito Beach Police reported that approximately 41,000 people attended Baja Beach Fest on Saturday, featuring performances by artists such as Peso Pluma, Becky G, and Bellakath, among others.
