Baja Fest Spurs Tijuana Boom

The Baja Beach Fest in Playas de Rosarito drove up hotel occupancy in Tijuana, with some reaching full capacity as 40,000 attendees flocked to the event.

## Baja Beach Fest Boosts Hotel Occupancy and Restaurant Traffic in Tijuana

The Baja Beach Fest held in Playas de Rosarito this past weekend has led to a significant increase in hotel occupancy and dining crowds in Tijuana, according to Juan Coronado Ruíz, Director of the Tijuana Tourism and Conventions Committee (Cotuco). Some hotels in the city reported occupancy rates of up to 100% this weekend, compared to 50-70% in the days prior.

Despite the notable surge in visitors and the resulting economic impact, Coronado Ruíz mentioned that official figures detailing the economic benefits from the festival are not yet available. With over 40,000 attendees from August 9-11, the festival has proven to be a major draw for the area. Hotels that were closer to the event location experienced full occupancy, signaling a preference among attendees for convenience.

The upcoming weekend will see the continuation of the festival in Playas de Rosarito, featuring artists such as Peso Pluma, Becky G, Bellakath, and Fuerza Regida. This is expected to sustain or even increase the current high demand for hotel accommodations in Tijuana.

According to Coronado Ruíz, this summer vacation period has observed higher tourist presence in popular locations like Avenida Revolución, Zona Río, and Tijuana’s beaches. He expressed satisfaction with the recent refurbishment of the boardwalk in Playas de Tijuana, noting that the shift from wooden to concrete materials will enhance its durability and appeal, potentially attracting more tourists.
