**International Book Fair Commences at University of Baja California in Tijuana and Ensenada**

The University of Baja California has kicked off its annual International Book Fair (FIL UABC) across two of its campuses: Tijuana and Ensenada. This much-awaited event is open to the public from April 3 to April 6, 2025, featuring a wide array of activities including book presentations, discussion panels, workshops, and concerts, set to celebrate literature and the love of reading.

The event, hosted at the UABC Otay Campus in Tijuana and Ventana al Mar in Ensenada, runs from 10 AM to 9 PM daily. Visitors can explore stalls from notable bookstores such as Librería El Día and Librería Gurú, among others, alongside national participants like Under City and Ágora Book from Mexico City, offering a treasure trove of rare and out-of-print books.

Initially launched in Mexicali and Tecate in late March, the FIL UABC has already attracted 116,000 visitors. Aim is high for Tijuana and Ensenada to exceed last year’s total attendance of 180,000. During the inauguration, UABC’s rector Luis Enrique Palafox Maestre expressed hopes to make these events comparable in stature to the Mexicali fair, a cultural staple for over 25 years.

Highlighted authors such as Carlos Lazcano Sahagún, Jorge Ortega, and Rosina Conde are scheduled to speak, alongside a tribute event entitled “Trayectoria FIL UABC 2025” honoring poet Ruth Vargas Leyva. In Ensenada, authors including Kenya Cuevas and Alejandro Rosas will share insights.
