## Art Raffle to Benefit Camelia García Arellano

Family and friends of Tijuana-based writer and journalist Camelia García Arellano have organized an art raffle to support her ongoing cancer treatment. The initiative, led by the collective “United for Camelia’s Health,” aims to fund the medical and study expenses required for her ovarian cancer therapy.

Camelia’s condition was publicly announced in early 2024, although it was initially detected in 2020. Owing to the high costs involved in her treatment, the artistic and journalistic communities from Baja California and Mexico City have shown solidarity by joining efforts to raise money. Despite their campaign, they fell short of their 400,000 pesos goal.

To continue aiding in covering these financial demands, Laura Jáuregui, an editor from Tijuana and Camelia’s friend, along with the rest of the collective, is coordinating a supportive raffle. Several artists have generously donated eight art pieces, including paintings, a literary poster, and photographs, for this cause. Notable contributors include Francisco Morales, Rocío Hoffman, Teresa López Avedoy, Carlos Martínez, Felipe Posada, Hans Giébe, Daniel GM, and the group Milagros a Mano.

Each raffle ticket is priced at 150 pesos and can be obtained by sending a WhatsApp message to Laura Jáuregui at (664) 341-67-45. The raffle will be streamed live on Facebook on the “United for Camelia’s Health” page on Sunday, October 6. For further information, interested parties can email [email protected] or reach out via Facebook and Instagram at @Unidos por Camelia.
