### Arrests Made Related to Threatening Banners Against Police Chief
Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with the display of threatening banners directed at Municipal Police Director, Julián Leyzaola Pérez, in various locations in Mexicali. The operation was conducted by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) in collaboration with the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA).
The arrests followed an intensive search led by the Homicide and Drug Trafficking Unit, which culminated in a raid at a residence in Villa Residencial del Prado, a community in southern Mexicali. The operation took place in the early hours of Friday, during which law enforcement officers detained three individuals within the premises.
The suspects, identified as Néstor Daniel Mande Vidaña from Mexicali, Alejandra Joselyn Valenzuela Hernández from Ciudad Obregón, and Fausto Plata Peña from Navarro, Sinaloa, are innocent until proven guilty according to local law. Authorities discovered three long firearms, a rifle, and quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana at the location. A stolen Kia vehicle was also found.
The individuals are now facing charges related to the illegal possession of drugs, firearms, and a stolen vehicle. However, investigative sources suggest these individuals may be connected to the placement of four threatening banners targeting the police chief. Although these banners were initially attributed to a criminal group known as “Los Rusos,” it appears that the detained individuals may have acted independently.
### Additional Developments in the Case
In related news, law enforcement continues to tighten security and increase surveillance efforts throughout Mexicali to prevent further incidents. Public activity in the area remains under observation, as community members are advised to report any suspicious activities.
The police chief, Leyzaola Pérez, has not commented publicly on these events, but sources suggest that further investigations are underway to dismantle any additional threats linked to organized crime groups.
The situation has sparked a broader discussion on the effectiveness of current anti-crime measures and the challenges posed by organized crime in the region. As the investigation unfolds, national attention remains focused on the actions of local law enforcement and their strategies to combat rising criminal activities.
