**Suspected Perpetrator Arrested in Connection to Rosa Johanna’s Disappearance in Sinaloa**
During a coordinated operation with authorities in Culiacán, Sinaloa, agents from the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) apprehended a man implicated in the disappearance of 34-year-old Rosa Johana Muñoz Elias.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jorge Barrera, had an outstanding arrest warrant for the crime of enforced disappearance. According to the investigation, Jorge allegedly committed this crime in the early hours of March 9, 2024. At around 3:00 AM, he was seen driving a gray 2006 Honda Civic, arriving at Miramar Street between Third and Fourth Avenues in the downtown area. He parked outside a bar and established contact with the victim.
After a few minutes, both proceeded to a hotel on Tenth Street in the San Marino subdivision, where they stayed for several hours. They left the hotel in the vehicle at approximately 11:30 AM, heading to an unknown location. Since then, the whereabouts of Rosa Johana are still unknown.
In response to this case, the prosecutor’s office has carried out exhaustive and immediate searches in the field, as well as in public and private institutions. Various proceedings, including the issuance of a search alert, have also been undertaken. However, Rosa Johana remains missing since her disappearance.
Based on information gathered both in the field and through intelligence, authorities identified the suspect’s location in Culiacán, Sinaloa. Collaboration efforts led to his arrest on July 30, 2024, and he was subsequently transferred to Ensenada on August 1, 2024, to comply with the arrest order issued by the Control Judge.
The State Prosecutor’s Office, through the State Investigation Agency and its coordinated efforts with authorities nationwide, continues to achieve significant results in apprehending individuals sought by the law.
